join和be in都有“参加，加入”的意思，但它们的用法不同。join是“加入”的意思，后常接某组织、团体、俱乐部等，表示作为其中一员。be in是“参加”的意思，是强调进入某种状态或在状态里。
join和join in
join表示参加某一团体、组织、机构，并作为其中一员(如：入党、入团、入会、参军等)；join in参加(活动)。

join也有参加活动的意思，但join后接的名词似乎更加抽象。

attend的用法
Attend是出席的意思，表示在某种比较正式的场合出现。例如，上课、会议等。

(3)attend university 上大学
