other作形容词，通常用在单数或复数名词的前面，意为“别的；其他的；另外的”；another泛指不定数中（三者或三者以上）的“另一个”。another前面不能用定冠词the，它作为限定词（定语）通常与单数名词连用，但是它后面可以跟few或基数词的复数名词。
another和other
不定代词another是由an和other构成，由此可以判定它只能代替或修饰可数的单数名词，前面不再用冠词。可以在句中作主语、宾语、表语和定语；
不定代词other相当于名词或形容词,可以在句中作主语、宾语、定语等。指两个人或事物中的第二个。相当于名词时,有复数形式others。
another和other的区别
1.the other用于两者中的另一个，another指三者以上中的另一个：
He has two toys. One is for me, the other is for himself.
他有两个玩具。一个是给我的，另一个是他自己的。
I don't have enough pencils,please give me another two.
我的铅笔不够用，再给我两支。
2.another 还有 “再……” 的意思，other 有 “另外” 的含义：
I don’t like this T-shirt. Please show me another one.
我不喜欢这件T血衫，请再给我拿一件看看。
The girl is much cleverer than other three.

3.修饰数词的结构不同：数词+other+复数名词= another+数词+复数名词：
